VyprVPN Pros:

VyprVPN Cons:

A solid VPN that offers insanely good security and anonymity. From only £3.63 per month, you’ll have access to their super fast VPN service with unlimited access and minimal throttling. Highly recommended for beginners!

Overview

Golden Frog, the company behind VyprVPN, established themselves in Switzerland due to their favourable privacy laws. The software and service company was founded in response to the famous Room 641a, which you can read all about here.

Given their history and track record, I already had quite high hopes about reviewing this VPN service. I signed up to VyprVPN to find out more about their pricing, features, and pros and cons. The aim is to provide you with an open and honest account of their services, so you can decide whether they’d be a good choice for you.

Pricing

There are two pricing plans if you choose to pay for VyprVPN monthly. If you want the VPN service on 3 devices, you’ll be looking at paying £6.90 per month. Alternatively, if you want to upgrade to VyprVPN’s premium service, the price goes up to £9.25 per month, and so do the features.

For users who are happy to pay yearly, the representative monthly price drops quite considerably. The standard plan is reduced to £3.63 per month, and the premium plan £4.79 per month, which is extremely reasonable for a VPN!

Features

Worldwide Servers: VyprVPN has over 700 servers across the globe. There’s absolutely no third parties involved, making the servers even more secure. Users will have access to unlimited server switching across North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa and Oceania.

Unlimited access: VyprVPN offer unlimited access to their users. Some VPN’s may limit access, bandwidth, or throttle speeds, but not VyprVPN! You can connect to any server and switch as much as you like without any restrictions.

Multiple devices: You can install VyprVPN on multiple devices, across desktop, mobile, and your internet’s router. VyprVPN’s apps are easy to use, making them a great choice for any type of user.

Minimal Throttling:  Because your ISP will only see encrypted traffic when using a VPN, you’ll be able to enjoy super speeds. Whether you’re browsing the internet or streaming movies, your speeds will not be throttled by VyprVPN.

Pros

3 day free trial

With so many VPN services on offer, it can be hard to choose one. I hope my reviews will help you, however, if you’re still not 100% sure, VyprVPN offer a 3 day free trial. You can download their VPN absolutely free of charge for 3 days, and you won’t have to spend a penny!

This gives me a lot of confidence that VyprVPN know their services are worthwhile. Why else would you offer something for free?

Advanced encryption

VyprVPN’s encryption methods and security are frankly top notch. You can choose your preferred level of encryption from OpenVPN, L2TP/IPsec, PPTP and Chameleon. You’ll also be protected by NAT Firewall which is an extra layer of security.

NAT Firewall blocks any inbound traffic that hasn’t been requested. There’s no extra configs or software required and runs on VyprVPN’s own servers. That means you’ll always be protected on any device when you use their service.

24/7/365 support

When you sign up to VyprVPN, you’ll be given access to their 24/7/365 support. Customer support is available anytime via email or live chat. Not that I think you’ll have much to query, or any issues, but it’s there if you want it.

No DNS leaks

Golden Frog developed a zero-knowledge VpyprDNS service. This increases privacy and is built into their VyprVPN service. When you connect to their VPN, you’ll automatically connect to VyprDNS. Your data and DNS will be passed through an encrypted tunnel to ensure no leaks.

Lots of DNS servers provided by third parties keep a log of what you do online. Whether it’s an IP address, location, or website visited, VyprVPN will not retain and hostnames whatsoever.

Cons

– Information logging

For a VPN service that pride themselves on security and privacy, it was dissappointing to see that VyprVPN to log some data. Granted, the data is only logged for 30 days, but it’s still being logged, including a user’s source IP address.

– No anonymous payments

Unfortunately VyprVPN does not allow you to pay via BitCoin. This is a shame given they’re a VPN service, and won’t allow their users to pay anonymously. You can pay via debit/credit card, PayPal or AliPay only.

Do I recommend VyprVPN?

It’s a bit of a yes and no answer for this VPN service.

VyprVPN offers a lot of features that I’d expect from a great VPN. They have great customer service that’s available 24/7/365 and a wide range of security features to be proud of. They’re compatible with Netflix, which is a popular request at the moment, and allow torrenting too.

However, they do lack some simple things that would change them from a good VPN service to a great one. Their 30 day logging of some data is a little questionable. The whole point of a VPN is that your data is hidden, including from the VPN service itself.

Not being able to pay anonymously, on top of the logging, could easily deter a lot of users. For the price (especially if you pay annually), there’s a lot on offer. However, for users who are really serious about their VPN service, this probably wouldn’t be the best option for you.

With other competitors offering that little bit more at the same price, such as NordVPN and ExpressVPN, it would be hard to justify VyprVPN over them. However, if you are looking for a secure and anonymous approach to your browsing or streaming, and aren’t worried about the minor issues, VyprVPN is a great service to choose.
