Do you consider yourself a big Harry Potter fan? Perhaps you’re one of the very few who haven’t seen any of the films yet and you want to have a movie marathon? No matter what applies, you will want to get your hands on the films in a cost-efficient and top-quality manner, right?

So, you head online and you find out that you can watch Harry Potter on Netflix… great news! You search through your Netflix library, but you can’t see any of the Harry Potter films. What’s going on? How can you get your fix of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone? Where can you find the final film; Harry Potter and the Deadly Harrows? Don’t worry, I’m here to tell you exactly how…

What’s the deal with Harry Potter and Netflix?

The reason why there is conflicting information regarding whether or not Harry Potter is on Netflix is that it depends on the territory. In both the UK and the US, Harry Potter is not on the Netflix streaming service. However, there are some libraries around the world where you will find the films. At present, you can watch Harry Potter on Netflix in the likes of Spain, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Poland. New Zealand, Australia, and Belgium also have the full eight Harry Potter films, which are as follows:

  1. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone
  2. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
  3. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
  4. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
  5. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
  6. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
  7. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part 1)
  8. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part 2)

How can you watch Harry Potter on Netflix in the US or UK?

If you are not based in one of the locations that I mentioned in the former section, you may be wondering how you can watch Harry Potter on Netflix. Are there any options? Yes; all you need is a VPN. With a VPN, you can make it appear like you are based in another location, which is going to give you the ability to access the Netflix library in the location you have chosen. If you select a server in Portugal or Spain, for instance, you should have no trouble accessing Harry Potter on Netflix.

The easy steps to follow to watch Harry Potter on Netflix

  1. Select a VPN that is known for unblocking streaming services, such as NordVPN
  2. Install the VPN
  3. Connect to a server in Spain or one of the other countries whereby Netflix show Harry Potter
  4. Log into your Netflix account and enjoy the film

So, what actually is a VPN?

VPN stands for Virtual Private Network. This will provide you with online privacy by masking your location and your IP address. This means that your actions online are going to be pretty much untraceable, so long as you have chosen a reputable VPN provider. A virtual tunnel ensures that your original IP address and data cannot be viewed. This is how people are able to make it appear like they are in a different country altogether.

EXPRESS VPN

Which VPN should you use when watching Harry Potter on Netflix?

In order to access Harry Potter on your Netflix library, you need to change your current location. A VPN enables you to do this. However, you cannot choose any old VPN. You need to make sure that the VPN is able to get past the walls that Netflix has put in place. Moreover, you need to make sure that the VPN you choose has servers in the likes of Spain, Portugal, Poland, and Hungary, so that you will have no trouble connecting to one of the territories that we have mentioned.

There are not many VPNs on the market that have an outstanding reputation when it comes to streaming. There are a lot of VPNs that offer a very patchy experience when it comes to this. From my experience, two VPNs that you can rely on when you want it to appear like you are in another country are NordVPN and ExpressVPN

One of the issues with a lot of the VPNs out there today is that they do not have a large server coverage. When this happens, it means that you will not able to connect to a VPN in a location that is going to give you access to the Harry Potter library on Netflix. This is why you need to go for a VPN like NordVPN or ExpressVPN, as their server selection is extensive. Therefore, you are never going to need to worry about running out of servers to connect to when you are trying to watch Harry Potter on Netflix.

You can take a look at the best VPNs for streaming to get a better understanding of the different options that are out there. However, I certainly recommend that you do not cut corners if you are looking for a VPN for the purpose of bypassing the geo-blocks that Netflix and other streaming platforms have in place.

Why do I recommend NordVPN for watching Netflix?

NordVPN is my number one choice when it comes to watching Harry Potter films on Netflix no matter where in the world you are. NordVPN provides you with more than 5,000 servers to select from across the world, with options in Spain and other countries that have the Harry Potter movies in the Netflix library.

NordVPN

There are a number of other reasons why NordVPN is my preferred choice. Military-grade encryption is used to guard all web traffic. There are also plenty of other security measures, including protection against DNS leaks and perfect forward secrecy. The VPN kill switch is a feature that I always look out for, and NordVPN provides this. A kill switch will ensure that you are protected even if your Internet connection drops out.

NordVPN is known for having great unblocking potential. Not only will you be able to unblock Netflix, but you can enjoy the likes of BBC iPlayer and Hulu. Furthermore, the customer support is excellent and the speeds are incredibly fast, so you do not have to worry about your viewing experience being interrupted when you side with NordVPN.

Why do only some VPNs work with Netflix?

Netflix has implemented very strong technologies to fight back against VPNs, preventing users from getting access to their content outside of specific regions. Neither practices are malicious. You are allowed to use a VPN. Netflix is allowed to put anti-VPN technology in place.

Best VPN for Netflix

What it means, though, is that you are going to need a VPN that is able to bypass even the most stringent of restrictions in order to get around these blocks.

A lot of the smaller or free VPNs do not have the resources that are needed to get past these blocks, and so they simply cannot unlock Netflix and other streaming services. The good news, though, is that there are a number of VPNs that can unblock Netflix successfully, including NordVPN, ExpressVPN, VyprVPN, and Surfshark.

Is it legal to use a VPN to access Netflix?

A lot of people worry that they are going to be breaking the law if they use a VPN in order to access Netflix. However, you don’t have to worry. It is completely legal to use a VPN to access Netflix in most places around the world.

I cannot offer legal advice or speak on regulations in every country, though, so do keep this in mind. In some locations, very strict restrictions are placed on the sort of content that citizens can access and view online. For example, the use of VPNs is highly regulated in places like Russia and China. Despite this, there are still some VPNs that are capable of getting past these tough walls, like NordVPN and PrivateVPN.

Where else can you watch Harry Potter online?

If you do not want to use Netflix to watch Harry Potter, there are a number of different options available to you. It all depends on where in the world you are based.

  • In India, you can watch all of the Harry Potter movies on the Amazon Prime Video platform.
  • In Australia, Binge provides all of the eight movies, and there is a two-week free trial available.
  • In the UK, Now TV is home to the full Harry Potter film series and there is a seven-day free trial available.
  • In the USA, you can watch all of the Harry Potter films on Peacock. To watch the first movie, you will not need to subscribe.

Final words on watching Harry Potter on Netflix

So there you have it: everything that you need to know about accessing Harry Potter on Netflix. We hope that this information has helped you to get a better understanding of how you can get Harry Potter on your Netflix library. All you really need is a VPN so you can mask your location and access the Netflix libraries that feature Harry Potter. Make sure you choose a VPN with care, though, as not all of them will unblock Netflix. NordVPN is always a solid choice. You can read my NordVPN review for more information.

FAQ about watching Harry Potter on Netflix

Can I use a free VPN to watch Harry Potter on Netflix?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to use a free VPN in order to unlock the Harry Potter films on Netflix. The reason for this is that the free VPNs that are on the market today are limited. They do not have the features or powers to be able to bypass the advanced geo-blocks that Netflix has established. Furthermore, you can expect slow speeds and connection issues. The bad news does not end there either, as free VPNs do not have the required security and privacy measures in place to make sure that you are protected. So, while I do review free VPNs because I feel it is important to give a well-rounded perspective, you certainly will not be able to access any Netflix library using a free VPN.

How long does it take to stream every Harry Potter movie?

At the time of writing, there are eight Harry Potter films. While we do not expect there to be another movie in the future, you never know what is around the corner! If you have decided that you want to enjoy a movie marathon, either by yourself or with someone special, you are going to need to set aside roughly 20 hours to do so! This is because every film within the Harry Potter series is between two and three hours in length.

Which Harry Potter movies can I watch on Netflix?

It depends on the Netflix territory you choose. Spain is a good choice if you want to watch all of the Harry Potter movies. You will also find all eight Harry Potter movies on the Poland and Portugal Netflix libraries. In some locations, there are some Harry Potter films, but not all. Canada is a prime example. You can watch both Parts 1 and 2 of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on Canadian Netflix, as well as Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

Is it possible to watch Harry Potter movies on a smartphone?

Yes, you can watch the Harry Potter films on your mobile phone. The only thing you need to do is select a VPN that works with your mobile device. Good examples of VPNs that are compatible with both iPhone and Android phones include NordVPN, CyberGhost, and PrivateVPN
